M. Cates, OD
Dr. Cates is a
Board Certified Optometrist. She is currently the Clinical Director
of the Low Vision Center. She is a Jacksonville native and proud graduate of
Florida State University. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree
from Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry in 1995.
Prior to coming to the Low Vision Center, Dr. Cates has had the
pleasure of serving the Jacksonville community and its eye care
needs.

Kim
Rigdon, CLVT
Kim Rigdon
is the Office Coordinator and Certified Low Vision Therapist. Kim
has over 12 years of experience in low vision rehabilitation. She
has worked for the Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches,
Richard E. Hoover Services for Low Vision and Blindness and
Independent Living for the Adult Blind. She has a Bachelor of
Science in Health Education from the University of Florida (Go
Gators!) She has taken several classes in low vision rehabilitation
at the New York Lighthouse for the Blind. Kim has been with the Low
Vision Center since its inception in 2006. She was honored with the
Frances B. Kinne Award in 2008. Kim can
provide you with training on how to use the optical and non-optical
devices that Dr. Cates prescribes. Kim can also offer the resources
available in your community.

Michele
Parks
Michele Parks is
our Patient Care Coordinator. She is a Certified Optician with over
9 years of experience. She will schedule your appointments and
assist you with your eyewear needs. Her passion is helping others in
anyway possible to achieve improved vision. She had the honor of
working with the “Give the Gift of Sight” program in a 2 week
mission to Mexico in 2004. Michele has been a Jacksonville local for
4 years, however she will forever be a proud “Georgia Peach” at
heart. (Go Dawgs!)
